I think he has done a great job. What do you think?
He's better than JP Ricciardi, that's for sure. The one deal that stands out to me is getting rid of Vernon Wells' contract of around $20M per season, considered the most untradeable contracts in the league because of his salary combined with his play (Nice .215 average this season). That saved them a lot of money to sign Jose Bautista to a contract extension that's looking like a steal at this point. The Yunel Escobar trade is also looking brilliant as he's emerging as one of the best SS in the AL. I think the Rasmus trade will turn out just as well next season.
Still waiting on Drabek to play to his potential to make the Halladay deal look great. Lawrie has been looking good in the minors and should be called up in September, hopefully he makes the Marcum trade work out.
Overall I'd give him a 9. That will be bumped to a 10 once the Jays make the playoffs.
